The Assistant Blog Editor assists the Blog Editor Director with blogs for the Special Library Association Student Chapter (SLASC).  This position is suitable for those who are looking for an introduction to working closely with blog writers to expand and formulate blog topics. The following tasks for the Assistant Blog Editor include: 

  • Pitching original story ideas about special libraries for the blog (blog posts can take the form of text, photos, videos, infographics, etc.)
  • Developing blog content ideas about special libraries or other related topics
  • Providing editorial feedback for other writers and blog team members’ blog posts 
  • Copyediting blog drafts to ensure that blogs meet necessary style standards and editorial policies in relation to: acronyms, commas, dates, fractions, names, numbers, percentages, punctuations, locations, times, titles, counties, years, and references
  • Updating WordPress blog posts as needed (i.e., updating links or editing formatting)
  • Meeting drafting and publishing deadlines
  • Looking for ways to incorporate other SLASC teams’ content in blog posts as needed
  • Maintaining open communication with the other blog team members
  • Attending monthly Executive Committee meetings
  • Attending SLASC programs when possible
