Rare Books LA annually holds book fairs across California and will expand to New York City in 2024. On February 3rd, 2024, Pasadena will host a book fair with nearly 100 exhibitors, including antiquarian booksellers from the United States, Canada, Europe, the United Kingdom, and Australia, and specialists in fine prints, historical maps, and vintage photography. Shapero Rare Books, an internationally renowned dealer in antiquarian and rare books and works on paper, will be offering a remarkable manuscript Dala’il al-Khayrat of Muhammad Ibn Suleyman Al-Jazuli, lithographed on paper with contemporary hand-coloured illumination, printed from a manuscript copied by Abdul Qafar Efendi dated 1256 AH (1840 AD), likely printed in the same year. The book is a famous collection of prayers for the Islamic prophet Muhammad and will undoubtedly be a treat to view.
