Join us this coming Tuesday (March 26th) as we explore the world of museums and art libraries. Learn about the skills and knowledge needed for this exciting area of librarianship. We’ll hear from information professionals who work in art and history museum settings, as they discuss their positions, job responsibilities, educational backgrounds, and career paths.
The main event will run from 6:30-7:30 pm Pacific. Join us beforehand for a social chat at 6:15 – it’s an excellent opportunity to meet fellow students and the SLASC Executive Committee.
Attendees will also have the chance to enter a raffle to win a $25 gift card by taking our survey at the end!

Amanda Castro
Amanda Castro received her B.A. in Public History from California State University San Bernardino in 2014. During her senior year as a undergraduate Amanda was the project manager for the Patton State Hospital Museum. The museum was the first of its kind in California because of its location on Department of State Hospital grounds. She went on to receive her M.A. in Social and Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Public History in 2017 at CSUSB. Her M.A. thesis titled Mental Health Memories: A Web-Based Archive for Mental Health Stories highlighted four individuals with mental health experiences by not only conducting oral histories but also telling their stories through objects and music. Amanda Castro is currently the Museum Director at Malki Museum, a Native American history and culture museum located on the Morongo Reservation, where her tasks include museum, archive, and library management. She also conducts all administrative work. The Malki Museum’s upcoming projects include updating exhibit space and taking inventory of all of Malki Museum’s collections.”
