The Special Libraries Association is a professional organization that supports information professionals working in non-traditional environments, including medical libraries, law libraries, and museum and visual resource libraries. The Special Libraries Associations has been promoting the interests of information professionals for over a century. The SJSU Student Chapter was established in the spring of 2013 by a group of enthusiastic students with the guidance of Dr. Cheryl Dee and Dr. Bill Fisher.
Goals of the SJSU iSchool SLA Student Chapter:
- to explore current trends in LIS professions
- to promote careers in special librarianship
- to develop creative educational programs
- create scholarship and career opportunities for its members
