The Special Libraries Association Student Chapter of San Jose State University (SLASC) believes that Special Libraries have a unique and important role in contributing to the highest levels of professional librarianship, including the ability to help implement best practices in the libraries in which they serve. We see the role of the librarian, fundamentally, as one of service to all. The SLASC strives to promote diversity, inclusion, and connection among students and across the world of special librarianship. We aim to provide leadership learning opportunities for our members, including enabling and encouraging clear communication. It is our intention to aid in the development of practical skills for future careers in special library work, and to cultivate meaningful, lasting, connections among members and the broader special library world.
