Each week we will spotlight feature one of our executive board officers to introduce them to fellow ALASC members!

Role: Co-Chair/Webmaster

Program: MLIS, third semester!

Looking forward to: Helping out with and participating in the unique events that ALASC will be involved during this school year! Banned Books Week is especially intriguing to me as well as potential library tours, such as for the Huntington.

Fun facts: My most treasured hobby has always been video games and I own over 500 of them in both digital and physical forms! This pairs very well with my interest in information science and the uniqueness of video game metadata and cataloging, which I hope to develop more interest in after graduating from SJSU.

About Melissa: I am passionate about information science in the digital age and virtual worlds! When not online I am watching true crime documentaries, coloring mandalas, playing board games & video games, making my way through a long “to read” list of books, and lazing about with my dog and 3 cats. ? I have a BA in Digital Media from the University of Central Florida and currently work as a web engineer for a startup company. My academic goals involve following the Digital Services pathway which goes hand in hand very well with my current career in website programming. Along with serving the ALASC, I also am involved in the VCARA student organization which explores unique learning experiences through virtual games and realities.
