ALASC Announces SLIS Banned Books Week Poster Contest!

Each year, libraries, LIS students, bookstores and avid book lovers celebrate the freedom to read during Banned Books Week! This year Banned Books Week takes place September 24 through October 1, 2011.

ALASC is putting on a “Banned Books Week Poster Contest” now through September 24 for SLIS students.

The Challenge: to create a poster promoting a banned book (or books) that also highlights Banned Books Week’s focus on intellectual freedom.

Submitted posters will be added to the ALASC blog (https://slisgroups.sjsu.edu/alasc/wp-students/) and will be available for students to vote on during Banned Books Week. The winner will be announced on September 30 and will receive a prize and their poster will be displayed on ALASC’s homepage and Facebook.

To submit your poster: please send as a .jgp file to sjsualasc@gmail.com  by September 24th. Suggested size 300×300 pixels. Max: 400 width x 600 length.

Please include “Banned Books Contest” in the subject line and include your name and a title for your poster in the email. The title will be included with the poster on the ALASC blog.

Submission deadline: September 24.

Voting: September 25-29.

Winner announced: September 30.
