Lauren Davidson
Lauren Davidson is entering her second year at San José State University and is on track to become a Public Librarian with an emphasis on youth services. Presently, she lives in Los Angeles, California. She got her Bachelor’s in Political Science because she wanted to change the world, but then she realized that being a Librarian could help the world so much more. She is currently working as a Principal’s Assistant at an elementary school.
What brings her joy is dancing, reading, traveling, and playing board games (and winning).
Lauren is currently serving as the Chair and Programming Director (Interim) on the Executive Committee.
Silvia Wu
Silvia Wu is in her first year in the MLIS program at SJSU and is fascinated with Library studies. The areas that interest her most are Data Management and Information Retrieval Systems, with a focus on Metadata and Information Organization. She is bilingual in English and Spanish. Currently, she lives in the bay area, California. She has a background in business from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor’s in Management Information Systems. During her professional journey she has fulfilled roles in the medical, commercial and educational settings.
Silvia enjoys sightseeing with her family, going on nature walks and discovering new places. She loves musical shows, gardening, and exploring new foods and flavors.
Silvia is currently serving as the Vice-Chair, Webmaster, and supporting as the Membership Director (Interim) on the Executive Committee.
Brittney Otero
Brittney Otero is in her third year and final semester of the MLIS program at SJSU. While she appreciates many aspects of LIS, she has a special interest in user experience/services, community development, and information literacy in public and academic librarianship. A Bay Area native, she currently lives in Redwood City, California. She earned her Bachelor’s in English from SFSU and now works full-time as a Library Media Technician overseeing a high school library, and part-time as a Library Assistant for a public library.
Brittney enjoys traveling, enjoying meals with friends, going to live shows with her partner, laughing it up with her family, watching movies, discovering new music, and reading.
Brittney is currently serving as the Secretary-Treasurer and Social Media Coordinator on the Executive Committee.

Faculty Advisor – Dr. Sandra Hirsh
Sandra Hirsh is Professor and Director of the School of Library and Information Science at San José State University. She will serve as the President of ASIS&T, starting her term as President-Elect during 2014 and will serve as ASIS&T President during 2015. Prior to joining the School as Director, she worked in the Silicon Valley for more than a decade at major technology companies: Hewlett Packard and Microsoft. As an industry user experience researcher, leader, and manager, she contributed to R&D research projects and influenced the user experience of web, mobile, and TV consumer products resulting in 5 U.S. patents. She was previously an assistant professor at the University of Arizona, and has taught courses for San José State University and the University of Washington. Dr. Hirsh’s research focuses on information-seeking behavior and understanding the information needs of a broad spectrum of users in the United States and around the world; this work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and has appeared in international conference proceedings.
