We are looking for a current SLIS student with excellent writing skills to serve in a paid student assistant position. The student will be responsible for writing weekly posts for the school’s New Student Blog, providing information and advice for newly admitted students.
Tasks will include researching and writing blog posts, interviewing individuals to develop content for blog posts, publishing posts on a WordPress blog, moderating comments, analyzing and reporting on blog metrics, suggesting topics for future blog posts, and making recommendations regarding how to make the blog a more effective tool for connecting with new students. In addition, the student assistant will occasionally write other content for the school, such as guest posts on other school blogs.
The ideal candidate for this position will be a current SLIS student who has experience writing public relations or marketing material, has completed at least two semesters as an MLIS or MARA student, and is available to work throughout the academic year and during the summer. The candidate must have excellent writing skills. Experience interviewing individuals to develop content is ideal. In addition, the ideal candidate will have blogging experience, with proficiency using WordPress or a similar blogging platform.
The student will work approximately 10 to 15 hours a week. Compensation is $17.00 per hour. The student assistant can live anywhere, with no need for any face-to-face interaction. The position will begin in May, with the student assistant expected to work during the summer and throughout the academic year.
