Swetta Abeyta / Moraga, CA

Swetta graduated from SJSU’s iSchool in the Spring of 2019. Prior to getting her MLIS, Swetta worked in a varied number of library and library-adjacent environments. She got her start in Special Libraries and then worked at Innovative Interfaces, a library software company, where she served as a Systems Librarian and Product Manager. Working in library software gave her a larger awareness of the multiple applications of an MLIS degree, and allowed her to work with different types of libraries, learning about their specific needs. Feeling a need to connect with library users directly, she is now working as a Librarian at Saint Mary’s College of California, where she wears several hats as an instruction, reference, and systems librarian. She enjoys working with college students and faculty to serve their research needs and fuel their scholarly curiosity. With 25 years of experience in the library world, Swetta is looking forward to helping you in your journey to find a fulfilling and gratifying career as a library professional
