Join the SJSU ASIS&T Executive Committee for the 2014-2015 academic year!

The SJSU ASIS&T Student Chapter is still looking to fill three positions for its 2014-2015 Executive Committee.

Who is eligible?

All student chapter members who are clear of intent to enroll through June 2015 are eligible to run for a committee position. (If you’re interested and aren’t yet a member – there’s still time! Why should you join the Executive Committee?

The SJSU ASIS&T Executive Committee develops, organizes, and moderates a variety of events and programs that include professional networking opportunities, career development seminars, social hours, and more. The Committee also oversees the day-to-day business of the chapter and maintains several active communications channels and social media accounts.

Joining the Executive Committee of a professional organization’s student chapter shows commitment to your field, willingness to lead and ability work as part of a team. Leadership positions set you apart from fellow job seekers and can help connect you to a wider community of professionals.

What positions are up for election?

Program Director

Duties:

A.  Organize, facilitate, and moderate academic, professional, and social programs for the Student Chapter.
B.  Attempt to coordinate cooperative programs with other San Jose State University student organizations, ASIS&T Student Chapters, and/or ASIS&T Regional Chapters.
C.  Collect and communicate all promotional information to Communications Officer.
D.  Perform such duties as the Executive Committee or the Chair may assign as expected of a Program Director.

Secretary

Duties:

A.  Record and distribute to the Executive Committee the minutes of each Executive Committee meeting prior to the next meeting of the Executive Committee.

B.  Record and distribute to the Executive Committee the minutes of each Standing or Ad Hoc Committee meeting prior to the next meeting of said Standing or Ad Hoc Committee.

C.  Perform such duties as the Executive Committee or the Chair may assign as expected of a Secretary.

Social Media Coordinator

Duties:

A.  Create, manage, and update Student Chapter social media accounts.

B.  Promote meetings, programs, projects, activities, news, publications, resources, and features to students and faculty via Student Chapter social media accounts.

C.  Represent the Student Chapter’s message and brand consistently across multiple social media networks.

D.  Provide feedback to those who interact with the Student Chapter’s social media accounts.

E.  Monitor the Student Chapter’s social media accounts for inappropriate content.

F.  Inform ASIS&T Headquarters of any updates to the Student Chapter’s social media account URLs, which are linked on the ASIS&T website.

G.  Perform such duties as the Executive Committee or the Chair may assign as expected of a Social Media Administrator.

How do I submit my nomination?

Nominations will be accepted from Sept. 2, 2014 through Sept. 18, 2014.  Candidates may nominate themselves by sending the following to sjsuasist@gmail.com

  • A brief personal/professional bio
  • A statement of purpose regarding the role you’d like on the Executive Committee
  • A portrait photo or headshot
