Dr. Sandra Hirsh to Answer ALA Accreditation Process Questions

accreditedsealsmallregisteredA message from Dr. Sandra Hirsh, SJSU SLIS Director and advisor to SJSU ASIS&T Student Chapter:

Every seven years, library and information science degree programs go through a national re-accreditation process with the American Library Association. We here at SLIS are undergoing that process this spring, as our last accreditation review was in 2007.

This comprehensive evaluation of the school’s MLIS program includes review of the school’s Program Presentation by an External Review Panel (ERP), as well as a site visit by the ERP to the SJSU campus to meet with faculty, staff, and program administrators.

You can review our Program Presentation by clicking here.

The ERP will also hold an open house via Collaborate for students on March 3, 2014, between 6:00 and 6:50 pm (PT). We hope you will attend the session and strongly support your school.

Here is the URL (and we will send it again via email closer to the date):

I will also be on Collaborate on Tuesday, February 25, from 5:00 to 5:30 pm (PT) to answer any questions you might have. The URL will be sent via SLIS email closer to the date.
