Now recruiting for a Treasurer, Webmaster, Blogging Assistant and Membership Coordinator with the American Library Association Student Chapter (ALASC) at SJSU’s School of Information.
This is a great opportunity to gain leadership experience, work on your communication skills, and make a real difference at the iSchool and in the field of information science. You will join a passionate group of fellow students who are determined to affect positive change and create a wonderful environment of learning and growth at our school.
The following position(s) are open for Spring 2022Â
- Treasurer (must be enrolled in at least 6 units)
- Maintains chapter budget
- Maintains ALASC Cafepress store
- Handles anything relating to financial processes
- Works with ALASC team on writing grant applications
- Webmaster
- -Maintains & updates desktop and mobile website including calendar & Executive Board bios
- -Ensures all website links are up to date and working properly
- -Uploads virtual event recordings, executive board meetings & other content
- -Primary contact for iSchool IT support as needed
- -Identifies technology needs of the chapter
- Blogging Assistant(s)
- Assists other board members with publishing announcements on the website’s blog
- Works closely with Event Coordinators and Social Media Manager in coordinating event promotions;
- Works closely with other Blogging Assistant(s) to plan and research new and relevant content for blog posts;
- Assists and advises the Chair on all executive decisions.
- Membership Coordinator
- Assists Chair with nomination and election process
- Facilitates outreach to engage ALASC general members
- Leads efforts to encourage iSchool student involvement with ALA (importance to SCOTYA)
- Assists with member questions and information requestsÂ

Requirements
- Nominees must be currently enrolled students (taking at least 3 credits) at San Jose State University School of Information.
- Commit to at least 1-2 hours a week to the chapter, depending on your position and if you decide to help out with any of our committees or events.
- Be a member of our parent organization, the American Library Association (not necessary during application process)Â
- Attend monthly meetings with the executive board.
