SJSU ASIS&T is excited to join the SJSU ALA Student Chapter in their participation of Banned Books Week 2015. Banned Books Week, the annual celebration of the freedom to read, runs from September 27 through October 3, 2015, and will be observed in libraries, schools, bookstores and other community settings across the nation and the world. Banned Young Adult books will be the focus of this year’s event.
To honor Banned Books Week and bring attention to this event in the iSchool community, ALASC is launching a social media campaign challenging all iSchool students to post pictures on various social media platforms holding up their favorite YA banned book using #bannedbooksweek, @ALASCSJSU and @SJSUASIST.
Our goal is to have #bannedbooksweek trend on social media in order to spotlight this issue.
Throughout Banned Books Week there will be a Banned Books Read Out on the ALASC YouTube page, challenging iSchool students to post pictures posing with their library cards on Facebook, and more!
