ASIS&T Student Chapter Seeking Volunteer for Student Workshop

Looking to polish your presentation or instructional experience for your e-portfolio?

The SJSU ASIS&T Student Chapter has included student-led workshops as part of its programming since last semester.  Since past workshops have been very well received, we are continuing the programming this semester and are currently looking for a student volunteer to present a workshop in the month of March.  The workshop would be on a topic of general interest, which will provide fellow students with practical skills or knowledge useful in their academic or professional pursuits.  To see the topics for past workshops, check out the Student Workshop Recordings Archive page on the ASIS&T Student Chapter website listing each workshop along with a link to a recording of it.

Preparing for and presenting a Student Workshop like this is a wonderful way to hone your professional communication and instructional skills and provides great evidence for your e-portfolio when it comes time to do that.  In addition, if you’re considering working in an academic library, presenting a live instructional session may be part of the interview process.  So, get your feet wet and practice this important professional skill in a very supportive environment to an audience of your peers.

If you have a topic in mind and would like to volunteer, please contact Frank Florian, the ASIS&T Student Chapter Program Director, at fgfinsf@earthlink.net.  Even if you have an idea but are not sure about it, feel free to contact Frank to discuss it before deciding.  We look forward to hearing from you.
