LIBR298 for JCLC and CLA attendees

SJSU SLIS students, are you attending the Joint Conference of Librarians of Color this September in Kansas City, MO and/or the California Library Association Conference to be held from November 2-4, 2012 in San Jose, CA? If so, consider taking LIBR 298: Trendspotting and Professional Socialization with Patty Wong (sections 07/08 for JCLC; sections 16/17 for CLA).

JCLC

Instructor Patty Wong will host an insider’s view of the conference as the platform for the course.  Students will learn more about various styles and techniques about networking, craft a short introduction in meeting new colleagues, engage in dialogue with a number of library leaders in tailored and more intimate conversations during class sessions held at the conference, participate actively in conference sessions, and earn a one unit credit for participation.  Conference will be held from September 19-23, class sessions will be held daily.  Early bird registration closes July 11. CLA

Using the CLA Conference as the framework, students will learn more about CLA and how to get involved in professional association work, network with key CLA leaders and other colleagues, participate in conversations with CLA and California library and community members through class sessions, and attend the CLA trade show.  Students will receive one unit credit.
