If you live in the SF Bay Area and want to volunteer for a good cause with fellow SLIS students join ALASC in Palo Alto on Monday, August 15 at Bookshare. Bookshare is a nonprofit that makes printed materials available to people with print disabilities using an online digital library. We’ll meet at Bookshare at 10 AM and work until noon. Service projects include preparing books for digitization, proof reading scans, and metadata.
Stay for lunch at noon at any number of eateries within easy walking distance of Bookshare.
This is a great way to start building up your resume with volunteer experience and involvement with Student groups, not to mention this great cause you would be contributing too!
