New opportunity to actively participate in iSchool student chapter!

Now recruiting for two Social Media Assistants and one Events Assistant with the American Library Association Student Chapter (ALASC) at SJSU’s School of Information.

This is a great opportunity to gain leadership experience, work on your communication skills, and make a real difference at the iSchool and in the field of information science. You will join a passionate group of fellow students who are determined to affect positive change and create a wonderful environment of learning and growth at our school.

The following position(s) are open for Fall 2021:

  Social Media Assistants

Assists Social Media Manager in promoting events & other ALASC activities

Creates social media graphics

Brainstorm, research and pitch ideas for new content

Oversees one or more platforms: Facebook, Twitter, LinkIn, YouTube, Goodreads

  Event Assistant

Assists Event Coordinators

Attends and provides Zoom support during virtual events

Participates in event marketing and outreach

Assists in creating slides and graphics

Helps lead/co-lead at least one event during the academic year

Requirements

  • Nominees must be currently enrolled students (taking at least 3 credits) at San Jose State University School of Information.

  • Commit to at least 1-2 hours a week to the chapter, depending on your position and if you decide to help out with any of our committees or events.

  • Be a member of our parent organization, the American Library Association (not necessary during application process)

  • Attend monthly meetings with the executive board.
