Chair: Jamie Renton
My name is Jamie Renton. I live in Pleasanton, CA, which is about 25 miles north of SJSU. I have a B.S. in Business Management from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, CA. Prior to being a full-time Mom, I worked at Golden Grain, part of Quaker Oats/Pepsi as a Supply Chain Accountant.
I began the SLIS program in Spring 2008 and will graduate in Spring 2011. Since becoming a student at SJSU SLIS, I have served on LISSTEN and ALASC in different board positions. I am so excited to work with the student body again during my final year at SJSU SLIS! Outside of school, I have a wide variety of interests that keep me enjoying life to its fullest!

He currently works for The Harker School, a private K-12 school in San Jose as one of their Library Clerks. The focus of his classes at SLIS have been upon technology, with special emphasis on emerging technologies.

His professional interests include information literacy, emerging technology, the social web, and scholarly communication. Unprofessionally, he enjoys 20th century literature, cult wines, pugs, and all things beach-related. Above all, he enjoys planning events that bring students and professionals together to network and learn new things!
Editor: Joni Savage
Joni Savage is looking forward to her summer fellowship at University of California, San Diego and her upcoming move to Seattle in the fall. She initially enrolled in the MLIS program in 2008 to focus on archival studies, but soon developed an interest in research librarianship, and even more recently, in grant writing and electronic publishing.
She holds a B.A. in Sociology from San Francisco State University and has extensive experience working in non-profit social services settings. She is scheduled to graduate in May 2011 and is impressed with wide variety of “traditional” and “nontraditional” career paths available to MLIS graduates.
As editor for the ALASC Descriptor newsletter, Joni is looking forward to receiving submissions from the diverse SLIS community.
