Welcome to the March 2012 issue of the SLIS Descriptor! This issue features:
- Recaps and photos of two library tours hosted by ALASC: Mountain View Public Mobile Library and Berkeley C. V. Starr East Asian Library
- Mira Geffner’s review of the bill banning ethnic studies in Arizona
- Amanda Heath’s experience attending a Southern California Instruction Librarians (SCIL) workshop
- Alison Leonard’s internship at the Mayme A. Clayton Library and Museum
- Stacey Nordlund’s summary of an Ontario Library Association Conference session on developing interview skills
- Emily Weak’s advice for coping with losing your job
As we continue to inch closer to the end of the semester—and the April 16 e-Portfolio deadline for those of us graduating in May or August—we will all need the occasional break from the constant reading and writing. ALASC is wrapping up the year with a few final events, so we hope to see you take a breather from all that studying to attend one of our upcoming tours or happy hours! Keep watching our blog, Facebook page, and the slisadmin mailing list for event listings and updates.
Have you submitted a piece for publication in the SLIS Descriptor? We want to hear from you! We seek to publish articles, announcements, book reviews, comics, conference experiences, poetry, event summaries, photographs, and more. If you have an idea, please contact us at alasc.descriptor@yahoo.com.
Happy Spring!
Sincerely,
Stacey Nordlund
