Hello there!
My name is Sophia, and I am the blogging coordinator for the SJSU ALASC. We are excited to announce that we are looking to involve you in our chapter blog! Love to write? Passionate about a certain library topic? We want to hear from you! This post is a call for guest bloggers for a one-off piece.
If you have something you’ve always wanted the world to know about regarding LIS, here’s your chance! We’re also interested in any alumni that would be willing to write about their experience in the field. Also, any hobbies that you can apply your LIS knowledge to, or niche LIS related topics are also appreciated! Some examples include but are not limited to:
- Preservation work in archives or museums
- Alumni working in any sector relating to information professionals
- Important historical or current figures/movements in the library science or achieves field
- Cataloging for movie studios or other nonstandard environments
- Local or regional conference experiences
- Working in special libraries i.e. zine libraries
- Anything you find interesting or important in the MLIS field
Our theme for the Fall 2026 semester is “Reclaiming History: Celebrating figures, groups, and narratives that have shaped our libraries but have often been excluded from mainstream discussions.” If you have an idea that fits into this theme, please don’t hesitate to email us! If you have an idea that doesn’t, please still email us! We’re open to any and all ideas!
