First let me give a very big welcome to our new and incoming SLIS Students. Though classes for Fall 2011 have not officially started, many students enrolled in LIBR 203 have already started to take advantage of early access to our new learning management system D2L. ALASC has created a new page on D2L that will include current and upcoming events, SLIS info and hot discussions. Now you can stay in touch with ALASC directly from D2L!
All students can self-register for this page by following the instructions below:
On your D2L homepage there is a My Courses widget. On the Student tab there is a link titled SLIS ePortfolio and Community Groups Portal – LIBR0001. Click this link then go to the Groups Portal Homepage where you can click on SLIS Community Sites from the navigation bar. There you will see the ALASC site available for self-registration. Anyone with access to the portal (students and instructors) could enroll in the course.
One last thing for the newbies:
Don’t forget to say hello to ALASC SLIS Descriptor Editor, Stacey Nordlund, who is a LIBR 203 peer mentor and ALASC Program Coordinator, Elaine Hall, who is a fellow new student currently enrolled in LIBR 203!
