Hello everyone! The time is Fall Semester 2026 at San Jose State University. Another semester is upon us, and with that comes a change in the UX Student Group’s Executive Committee Team. The group has recently elected new officers and made changes, including expanded positions for additional coverage. The first post of this Fall Semester 2026 would be to introduce the first half of our Fall 2026 Executive Committee. Please meet the first half of our Fall 2026 Executive Committee. Raquel Dubin – Secretary
Hi, I’m Raquel, and I’m Secretary of the UX Student Group (formerly Web Coordinator!). I’m currently in my second year of the MLIS program. My main interests are user-centered design, information architecture, and special librarianship. Outside of LIS, I enjoy creative writing, drawing, and bouldering. I look forward to contributing to the team this semester!
Abbie Tarvin – Treasurer
Hi everyone, I’m Abbie, and I’m Treasurer for the UX Student Group. I’m in my third semester of San José State University’s MLIS program, and after graduating I’m interested in working in cataloguing focusing on DEI and user experience. In my free time, I enjoy reading Sci-Fi/ Horror books, fiber arts crafting, playing board games, watching movies, and hanging out with my friends and cat, Miso soup.
Sophia Bercow – Membership Coordinator
Hi y’all, I’m Sophia, and I’m one of the Membership Coordinators for the UX Student Group. I’m currently in my second semester for the MLIS program, and I’m interested in both the academic and public librarianship pathways. Outside of school, I work full-time as a Senior Editor for a medtech company, and in my free time, I’m almost always reading, watching any and all sports, or taking my puppy, Mocha, on a walk!
Sonia Border – Events Coordinator
Hi all, my name is Sonia! I’m an Events Coordinator for UXSG this semester, and I’m currently studying Information Science and Data Analytics at San José State University. I’m a UI/UX Designer in the tech industry, and I love making sense out of complex problems. Outside of work and school, I love to draw and paint, go on nature walks with my husband, and play with my three cats: Ramen, Udon, and Soba.
Nathaniel Mayorquin – Social Media Coordinator
Hello! I am Nathaniel, one of the Social Media Coordinators for UXSG. I am a graduate student studying Library and Information Science at San José State University. Currently I am working in LA County as a Library Associate and at Bellflower Unified School District as an Instructional Aide with a career goal of becoming a Librarian. Some of my hobbies and interests include hiking, baking, video games, LEGO, movie theaters and concerts.
Sanjana Wath – Web Coordinator
Hi! I’m Sanjana Wath, one of UXSG’s Web Coordinators and an Information Science and Data Analytics student, also minoring in Computer Science at San José State University. I’m interested in data analytics, web technologies, and finding ways to turn data into meaningful improvements for users. I enjoy learning new technical skills and working on projects that combine technology, creativity, and problem-solving. Outside of academics, I love bedazzling my things, spending time with friends and family, and love to bake!
Marzieh Rasti – Web Coordinator
Hi! I’m Marzieh Rasti, one of UXSG’s Web Coordinators. I have five years of experience working in higher education student services and currently work at a community college. I’m interested in data analytics, web technologies, and using data to improve user experiences and make information easier to access. I enjoy learning new technical skills and working on projects that combine data, technology, and problem-solving. Outside of work and school, I enjoy cooking, hiking, and spending time with my family.
