Welcome to the Winter issue of ALASC’s newsletter, the SLIS Descriptor!
In this issue, you will get to read about one public library’s pioneering school readiness program; how two students have made the most of on-site, virtual, and international internship opportunities; one student’s reflection on plagiarism; and how you can gain valuable editorial and writing experience as a member of or a contributor to SLIS’ Student Research Journal.
If you have not yet submitted a piece for publication in the SLIS Descriptor, then I encourage you to do so. We seek to publish articles, announcements, internship recaps, book reviews, job experiences, comics, event attendee summaries, poetry, photographs, and any other LIS content that you feel is worth sharing with and beyond our SLIS community. If you have an idea, please contact us at alasc.descriptor@yahoo.com.
We hope that the Spring semester brings many challenging opportunities and projects your way. Who knows? If you keep following ALASC on Facebook or Twitter for updates and upcoming events, you might stumble upon a topic to develop into an article for us.
We will look forward to sharing more of your writing in the next issue of the SLIS Descriptor. Please be on the lookout for our calls for submissions via QuickSLIS, SLISAlert, and Facebook.
