Please see the following press release from ALA regarding a new opportunity for students in participating states to receive joint memberships in the ALA and their state library association.

CHICAGO — Forty-five state library associations (ALA Chapters) partner with the American Library Association (ALA) to offer a joint student membership program, which allows students engaged in a program of study or certification in MLS/MLIS, CAEP and LTA programs for no more than five total years to join ALA and one participating ALA Chapter for one low membership rate.

A one-year joint student membership currently costs $40. These membership dues increase to $42 on Sept. 1, 2018, and will be valid through Aug. 31, 2019. The program has been an ALA student member benefit since 2004.

The following 45 ALA Chapters participate in the joint student membership program:
