Become a Computer Coach or a Reading Tutor for adult learners at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library!

Imagine that you could not read a bus schedule, interpret the directions on a medicine bottle, or complete basic tasks on the computer. Please consider becoming a volunteer tutor or a computer coach for the adult literacy program, Partners in Reading, at the San Jose Public Library.

The experience is rewarding and exciting. You will be instructing an English-speaking adult who is 18 years or older. The next Tutor Orientation will be on Monday, September 17, 2018. Tutor Training will take place on Saturday, September 22, and Saturday, September 29, from 9 to 4. All sessions will be at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Public Library. All sessions are required and participants must register in advance. All volunteers must complete fingerprinting.

Time commitment is 3 hours per week for a reading tutor, or 2 hours per week as a computer coach, for 6 months or more. To see some tutors and learners in action, visit www.sjpl.org/partutorresources.

Please visit www.sjpl.org/partutor to learn more and to register. Pre-registration is required. For more information, call the PAR office at 1-408-808-2361.
