Johanna Rodriguez
I am Johanna Rodriguez, the current Blog Editor for the UXSG @ iSchool. I am in my second to last semester of the MLIS program at SJSU and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time. I was born and raised in South Los Angeles and still reside there.
Currently, I am working as a Public Service Specialist at an academic university in downtown Los Angeles. The school I work for has a strong focus on fashion which in turn has a very large special collections archive.
When I am not at work or doing homework, I like to read books, binge TV series, travel, go to concerts, brunch dates or go to theme parks.
My undergraduate degree is in journalism in which I believe the skills I learned transfer fairly well into a librarianship degree. I love to read, write, research and help others. I learned about librarianship through my first library clerk job at a public library in 2018. I had a great mentor that shared their experiences in the field and I found it to be enlightening.
“I am excited to bring new information to our members,
spreading the word about not only our group but
also how they can continue to learn all things UX.”
I joined the UXSG @ iSchool because I am very interested in accessibility, online interfaces, user experience and all things online. My current MLIS pathway is in digital services/curation and I enjoy learning about the backend of a web site and how it all comes together for the users.
My ultimate goal after graduation is becoming a librarian at a community college in the field of digital services and user engagement. I love all things databases! As Blog Editor, I am excited to bring new information to our members, spreading the word about not only our group but also how they can continue to learn all things UX.
