The National Cybersecurity Training and Education (NCyTE) Center and the Centers of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cybersecurity Community are hosting the eighth annual National Cybersecurity Virtual Career Fair.

Where it asks for university affiliation, San Jose State University is listed at the bottom. 

You are required to upload your resume, so make sure it is ready to go (e.g., proofread). Try to stick to one page, no more than two pages depending on projects/extracurricular activities. 

Cybersecurity and Healthcare Workshop with Steve Shirley

The CIS Club will host a guest speaker, Steve Shirley, who will give a presentation on information technology in healthcare.

Steve Shirley has over over 44 years experience in the Information Technology field, with over 12 years experience in healthcare as the Vice President Information Technology and Chief Information Officer for Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, Colorado. He led a dedicated team of IT Professionals in support of the mission and strategic plan of the hospital.

He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Colorado State University – Pueblo, a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics and an Associates of Applied Science degree in Computer Science Technology, both from the University of Southern Colorado. He is also a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Colorado.

RSA Conference is the world’s largest cybersecurity event and the meeting point for cybersecurity’s most accomplished innovators and experts. So, whether you’re a current student or recent 2023 graduate, our annual College Day is the place to explore this field, hear from the best, and gain insight into what’s next, who’s hiring, and even get your resume reviewed.

You’ll receive a free, one-day pass for Thursday, May 9 that gives you access to dozens of sessions and keynotes plus two tailored experiences just for you.

Learning Labs and Birds of a Feather are not open to RSAC College Day Pass holders. The Closing Celebration is open to all pass types. Priority will be given to Full Conference Pass and Expo Plus Pass holders, with limited seating available for College Day Pass and Expo Pass holders.


Participation Requirements

RSA Conference requires all students attending RSAC College Day to show proof of current student status by doing one of the following.

  • Register using an .edu email address
  • Provide a copy of current class schedule with valid student ID or proof of 2023 graduation.

The conference is for four days, but it can be pricey. The College Day is free for students.

CAN YOU HACK IT? Spring 2024 Hackathon 3/31

Dear SJSU Students,

SJSU’s Cyber Intelligence and Security Club will be hosting a hackathon on March  30th 1:00 p.m. PST via Zoom. The hackathon is free and open to all San Jose State University Students. 

Participants will use KC7, an online game, and be fully immersed in the role of a cybersecurity analyst as they work with real analytical tools, such as Azure Data Explorer and Kusto Query Language, to solve cybersecurity challenges. Participants will be competing against each other in teams of 3-5 to win the competition! 

No experience in hacking is necessary. Just interest in cybersecurity!
