Content Editor Role Description
Bolster your professional resume and leave a legacy at the iSchool. Join the Editorial Team of the Student Research Journal!
SRJ Editors gain competitive experience working within an academic publication as a peer-review editor. Contributing to the LIS field as an editor is a prestigious accomplishment for résumé/CV development, with additional benefits for successful candidates:
Position benefits:
- Development of ePortfolio culminating experience (most strongly mapped to competencies A,L,M,O)
- Competitive experience for résumé /CV
- Profile on the SRJ website, including headshot and biography
- Named in publication of full issue(s) worked on, along with Editorial Team title
- Potential to earn an excellent academic reference from SRJ’s Faculty Advisor, Dr. Anthony Bernier
Please review the linked job description for the tasks required of Content Editors. These positions are a one-year term appointment, which can be extended. Training for the Content editor role will begin as soon as possible.
*Please note that interested applicants completing INFO 285 during the current semester are eligible to apply (i.e., concurrent enrollment).

- Cover letter addressing your interest and qualifications as per the Editor Role Description. (May be attached, or in the body of the email)
- Attach your current resume.
- Attach a writing sample that is 500-1,000 words (2-4 pages), formatted in accordance with APA Style (7th ed.). You must include a list of references, which does not count toward the page limit. Your writing sample must demonstrate your ability to write at the graduate level. It should include a core question and thesis statement. The writing sample may be a literature review, a research or grant proposal, or a selection from a larger research paper.
Please ensure your application package includes all three required elements.
