He has been involved with the Prelinger Library since 2017, both as a host and working with the collections and is a current MLIS student at San Jose State University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prelinger Library<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Founded in 1994 by Megan and Rick Prelinger\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Has been around for over 20+ years and operates differently than other libraries<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The library is organized idiosyncratic, as it does not use a normal cataloging system (i.e. Dewey, Library of Congress, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Laid out as a geospatial conceptual taxonomy; ordered as a contiguous flow of thought\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mimics a person standing and browsing the stacks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The collection has a broad focus on communication &#8211; broadcast in particular<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Has a handful of special collections; a robust amount of artists books, maps, newspaper clippings, zine archives, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Known as a &#8216;hospitality library&#8217; &#8211; encourages conversations with one another, with tea!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Prelinger Library Stacks Explorer was created as it is a non-standard library responding to specific non-standard questions.
