I’m Raquel Dubin<\/strong>, the Web Coordinator<\/strong> for the UX Student Group. I’m currently in my first year of the MLIS program. I also work as a UX student assistant and as a teaching assistant for INFO 202 at the SJSU iSchool.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

I learned about UX while exploring career paths post-graduation, and I\u2019ve been interested in it ever since. I\u2019ve also always been interested in librarianship, particularly after working as an undergraduate student assistant at my university library in Special Collections and Archives. Those experiences led me to the MLIS program and the UX Student Group.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m drawn to the deep connection between UX design and library and information science. Libraries provide access to information and resources that might have otherwise been inaccessible. This makes it essential<\/em> that libraries design user-centered interfaces, programs, and services. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n

A UX concept that has stayed with me is “Solve for one, extend to many”: improving accessibility for specific users often benefits a broader audience. For example, adding captions to videos for hearing-impaired users benefits anyone who needs or wants to use captions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

As Web Coordinator<\/strong>, I’m excited to contribute to our online presence while learning from a community of like-minded students. My goal in my current and future roles is to work toward making information accessible for all, ideally by designing user-centered resources for libraries or universities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
