Pearl Kim, Editor in Chief<\/em><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Pearl is a graduate student in San Jos\u00e9 State University\u2019s (SJSU) Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) program. Previously, she worked as a writer creating and editing content that made technology management clear for public servants. She received a bachelor\u2019s degree in journalism with a minor in Asian American Studies at Northwestern University. In her free time, she reads, thrifts, looks at the ocean, and eats good food that other people cook. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two cats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alyssa Galvan, Managing Editor<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Alyssa is a graduate student in the MLIS program at SJSU, where she also earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing in 2013. She spent 10 years working in the tech industry as an editorial lead, senior content strategist, and writer of all trades. As she’s passionate about writing support, you can currently find her working as a tutor and associate blog editor for the SJSU Writing Center. In her free time, she builds beautiful cottages in the Sims, follows easy recipes from YouTube, and reads 50 library books a year. She lives in Whittier, CA with her husband and very old, very good dog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Armando Carvalho, Content Editor<\/em><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Armando is a current MLIS student at San Jos\u00e9 State University and works as a teacher librarian in Los Angeles. He received a bachelor\u2019s degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, in addition to master\u2019s degrees in secondary education and Catholic school administration, and a doctorate in education from Loyola Marymount University. Armando also holds a California Single Subject Teaching Credential with authorizations in English, English Language Development, social sciences, and physical education, along with a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Professionally, Armando has spent 15 years in elementary and secondary education as a teacher, department chair, and principal in both Catholic and public schools. Armando\u2019s interests include making library services accessible to English learners, teacher collaboration, and teaching research skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alysia Gilman, Content Editor<\/em> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Alysia Gilman is a current MLIS student at San Jos\u00e9 State University. She comes from a background in psychology, having completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of La Verne. Currently, Alysia works as a library associate at her local public library in Southern California. In her free time, she enjoys painting, baking, knitting, and spending time with her two cats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carly Coursey, Content Editor<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Carly Coursey is an MLIS student at San Jos\u00e9 State University, graduating in Spring 2027. They hold a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University and a Library and Information Technology Certificate from Palomar College. Carly serves as a Content Editor for the\u00a0Student Research Journal<\/em>\u00a0and is interested in academic librarianship, research and publishing, preservation, oral history, and the lived experiences of neurodivergent people in libraries. Their poetry and prose appear in the 2021 Palomar College literary journal\u00a0Bravura<\/em>, and they serve as a peer reviewer for the Core journals\u00a0Internet Technology and Libraries<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Library Leadership & Management<\/em>. Since 2018, Carly has worked in public, special, and academic libraries. At the University of California, San Diego, they are the Bindery Coordinator in the Preservation Lab, a founding member and Membership Officer of the Pride Staff Association, and a member of the Library Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Find them relaxing with their 15-year-old daughter, partner, and two cats \u2013 somewhere in the shade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liz Harmer, Copy Editor<\/em><\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Liz Harmer is a teacher, editor, and writer living in Southern California. Before starting the MLIS program at San Jos\u00e9 State\u00a0University, she finished a Master of Fine Arts at Chapman University and a Master of Arts in English Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Toronto. Her creative writing has been published widely, and she currently works as a Humanities teacher at a private school. She does a lot of yoga and dreams of learning to surf one day soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kimberly is pursuing a degree in Library and Information Science at San Jos\u00e9 State University and previously studied sociology at California State University, Sacramento. She is passionate about supporting adult literacy and helping individuals build confidence in their reading and writing skills. In addition to her academic work, Kimberly helps manage a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping cats find safe, loving homes. Her interests include reading, photography, volunteering, and spending time with her family and cats. She lives just outside Sacramento, California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elena is a graduate student at San Jos\u00e9 State University studying Library and Information Science. They graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2023 with a major in Linguistics and a minor in English literature, and now live in their hometown of Santa Rosa, CA.
