SJSU was additionally represented by librarians Jennifer Dinalo (who is also the\u00a0<a title=\"SLISConnect\" href=\"https:\/\/slisgroups.sjsu.edu\/slisconnect\/\" target=\"_blank\">SLISConnect<\/a>\u00a0Alumni President-Elect) and Valeria Molteni.<\/p>\n<p>The conference &#8212;<strong> Building our Information Future<\/strong> focused on changing roles of health sciences librarians, emerging technologies, and positioning health sciences libraries for future success. Dr. Aaron Carroll, a leading pediatric informaticist and a co-author <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em style=\"color: #494949;\">Don&#8217;t Swallow Your Gum: Myths, Half-Truths, and Outright Lies about Your Body and Health<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em style=\"color: #494949;\">Don&#8217;t Cross Your Eyes\u2026They&#8217;ll Get Stuck that Way!<\/em><\/span>\u00a0delivered the John P. McGovern Lecture. A renowned p<span style=\"color: #000000;\">laywright, actor, and professor Anna Deavere Smith\u00a0closed the conference with her performance of <i>Let Me Down Easy<\/i>, a play on <\/span>&#8220;<span style=\"color: #000000;\">health care and the resilience and vulnerability of the human body&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In a session\u00a0<strong><em>Architects of the Future: Managing 21st Century Resources<\/em> <\/strong>Basia co-presented a paper with Heather Martin, the Regional Director of Library Services for Providence Health &amp; Services Oregon Region. The presentation was entitled <strong><em>Combining Resources, Combining Forces: Regionalizing Hospital Library Services in a Large State-Wide Health System.<\/em><\/strong>The presentation\u00a0was a case study describing <span style=\"color: #494949;\">the experience of combining the forces of 4 libraries and creating a single team and a single service for a state-wide system. The\u00a0paper described the transition &#8220;process, challenges, and lessons learned of an organizational shift to a regionalization of services, collections, and staffing.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>While the conference was a great educational and professional experience it also offered lots of opportunities to network and socialize.
