It\u00a0deals with analyzing, displaying, communicating and interpreting massive amounts of abstract data effectively and efficiently via visual representations. In this webinar, Dr. Chen will present and discuss how information\u00a0visualization\u00a0can be used to help libraries and librarians\u00a0utilize the abundant data resources (to which they now have more and more access) to provide better patron services through enhanced collection analysis, resource allocation, and user engagement.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/ischoolgroups.sjsu.edu\/slasc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/MichelleChen-JPG-copy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1025 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/ischoolgroups.sjsu.edu\/slasc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/MichelleChen-JPG-copy.jpg\" alt=\"MichelleChen JPG copy\" width=\"185\" height=\"233\" \/><\/a>Michelle Chen,\u00a0Ph.D.<\/strong>, is Assistant Professor from the School of Information at San\u00a0Jos\u00e9\u00a0State University.\u00a0Prior to joining the\u00a0iSchool, she taught in several different universities, including the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Connecticut and the University of San Francisco.\u00a0Her primary areas of research and teaching interests include information visualization, data mining, social media, and online user behavior. In particular, she is interested in\u00a0studying the value of virtual platforms as informational and social media and the role of today&#8217;s networked environment on shaping user behavior.
