To join simply&nbsp;enter your name and email address in the form on the left&nbsp;and we will send you a confirmation and a welcome message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why Join Our Chapter?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you like math and science? Are you interested in connecting people with information about medicine or the law? Perhaps you have discovered your passion in a performing arts or film library. Do you want to work with something other than books? If you\u2019re drawn to an environment that\u2019s not your normal library and you want to join an active organization at SJSU\u2019s iSchool, then the Special Libraries Association Student Chapter (SLASC) may be for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b><strong>What a professional organization can do for you:<\/strong><\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Put you into contact with working professionals who understand the unique challenges of special librarianship<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet others and establish a group of contacts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be informed of the latest trends<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b><strong>The benefits of becoming a member of our group:<\/strong><\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Access to&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/scholarworks.sjsu.edu\/slasc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">webinars and colloquia<\/a>&nbsp;featuring special librarians discussing current topics and interests in the profession<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enjoy programs designed&nbsp;<i>by<\/i>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<i>for<\/i>&nbsp;SJSU iSchool students and have the ability to let us know what kinds of speakers and presentations you\u2019d like to see<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work closely with faculty members who are special librarians<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet other students interested in special librarianship<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect with mentors in local SLA communities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why Join SLA?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Although membership in the&nbsp;<a title=\"SLA Home\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sla.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Special Libraries Association<\/a>&nbsp;is not required for Student Chapter membership, we encourage all members and anyone interested in special librarianship to join SLA. Student membership is $10 per year for up to 5 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Membership comes with perks:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>one free membership to a geographically-based chapter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>one free membership to a subject-based division<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a free subscription to Information Outlook<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Membership in SLA has other benefits such as deeply discounted registration to conferences, networking opportunities, and access to mentors.
