This month, SJSU SAASC is highlighting Berkeley-based community archive, Freedom Archives. Freedom Archives is “a non-profit educational archive dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of historical audio, video and print materials documenting progressive movements and culture from the 1960s to the 1990s” (Freedom Archives, n.d.). Freedom Archive has an especially rich collection on the Black Liberation Movement, which “covers many militant organizations dedicated to the freedom for African-Americans, such as the Black Panther Party, the Black Liberation Army, and the Republic of New Afrika” (Freedom Archives, n.d.-a).<\/p>\n
