Come learn the ins and outs of working as a business archivist. Emily is the Lead Archivist in Seattle, Washington, since 2022, providing archival services throughout the Pacific Northwest. Prior to joining Winthrop, she worked for King County Archives and Seattle Opera, where she founded the company\u2019s first Archives program. Emily has held leadership roles with Northwest Archivists and the Zine Archive and Publishing Project. Her areas of specialty include family owned business archives, the intersection of archival practice with death and grief, and textiles. She is based out of Montreal and offers a unique expertise in combining her work as an archivist, and historian, with her artistry and has created installations, digital media, and collaborated on a variety of unique projects that explore themes of memory, nostalgia, identity, and autobiography. Her work is inspiring and will offer insight into the relation of art and public history, and the field of archives. This event will be recorded and you will have a chance to ask questions. SAASC & ASIS&T SC Presents: <\/strong>Archivists Tool Kit: Photoshop Basics<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This workshop will start with a presentation from Carli Lowe the San Jose State University Archivist about how technology is used in her work. Then a demo will be presented by resident Adobe Specialist Raymond Lam on the basics of Photoshop to create an archival outreach flyer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carli Lowe<\/strong> is the university archivist at San Jos\u00e9 State University\u2019s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library. Her work is focused on studying and developing practices that shift collecting strategies, expand archival audiences, and improve the sustainability of archival institutions, with the goal of ensuring that archives are relevant to present needs and prepared for future challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raymond Lam<\/strong>, \u201921 BFA Digital Media Art, Adobe trainer and instructional designer at SJSU\u2019s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library<\/p>\n\n\n\n
