SUMMARY:The Why and How of Open Access Publishing: An Academic Librarian’s Perspective
DESCRIPTION:Publishing of open access materials (e.g.\, journals\, books\, conference proceedings\, open educational resources\, etc.) is becoming more and more common in North American academic libraries. Attend this webinar to learn the following from a practicing academic librarian: \n\nWhy libraries are collaborating with their campus partners to publish scholarly works; \nWhat tools are used to negotiate and manage publishing projects with journal editors and authors; \nWhat platforms are commonly used for publishing and hosting different types of content; \nWhat services are provided to journal editors and authors for digital publishing projects\, such as metadata and DOI/ISSN/ISBN assignment; \nHow content is preserved digitally.\n\nIt’s Open Access (OA) week! Join us for a fun and informative talk on cutting-edge digital OA projects! \nSpeaker Bio\nJody Bailey received her Master of Library and Information Science from Wayne State University in 2008 and has been working since February 2009 at the University of Texas at Arlington Libraries. Her current position is Director of Publishing\, and next month she will start working as the Head of the Scholarly Communications Office at Emory University Libraries. Her professional interests include open-access publishing\, open educational resources\, copyright and authors’ rights\, user-centered library services\, and outreach activities. In her first career\, she spent ten years as an academic copy editor of books and journal articles\, mostly for the American Psychological Association. \n  \n  \nRecording: OA Webinar (MP4) \nSlides: Library Publishing (PDF)
