You will join a passionate group of fellow students who are determined to effect positive change and create a wonderful environment of learning and growth at our school.<\/p>\n<p>We invite you to self-nominate for the following positions (*asterisk indicates that an incumbent is also running for this position):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00b7 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <b>Chair<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>Oversees and manages chapter<\/li>\n<li>Responds to emails sent to main chapter email<\/li>\n<li>Creates board meeting agendas<\/li>\n<li>Facilitates board meetings<\/li>\n<li>Answers questions\/provides guidance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\u00b7 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <b>Co-Chair \/ Webmaster*<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintains\/updates website (WordPress)<\/li>\n<li>Maintains\/updates Canvas page<\/li>\n<li>Maintains blog, posts new content with the help of the blogging\u00a0 assistants<\/li>\n<li>Leads board meetings when Chair is not present<\/li>\n<li>Assists Chair with overall group facilitation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\u00b7 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <b>Treasurer (must be San Jose adjacent )*<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Maintains chapter budget<\/li>\n<li>Maintains ALASC Cafepress store<\/li>\n<li>Handles anything relating to financial processes<\/li>\n<li>Position requires some on-campus commitments throughout the year long-term<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\u00b7 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <b>Archivist \/ Secretary<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>Takes notes during board meetings<\/li>\n<li>Sends meeting notes summary to board members after meeting has adjourned<\/li>\n<li>Organizes and archives documents in our Team Google Drive<\/li>\n<li>Assists Chair in monitoring chapter email account<\/li>\n<li>Gets event dates published on the SJSU iSchool calendar<\/li>\n<li>Sends our events, announcements, and other information to iSchool staff to get an iSchool Alert sent to student body<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\u00b7 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <b>Social Media Manager*<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>Posts all information from our group (email info and events, etc) on all social media platforms<\/li>\n<li>Strategizes on best way to utilize social media for our needs<\/li>\n<li>Works with Co-Chair \/ Webmaster, Events Coordinators, and Blogging Assistants to cross-promote events and blog posts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\u00b7 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <b>Events Coordinators (x2)<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>Brainstorms \/ coordinates in-person events in physical locations and virtual events online<\/li>\n<li>Finds dates for events (reviewing iSchool calendar to make sure there are no event overlaps)<\/li>\n<li>Works with the other events coordinator(s) to ensure we have rich programming and events for the current school year<\/li>\n<li>Sends event info to fellow board members for promotion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\u00b7 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <b>Blogging Assistants (x2)*<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>Assists other board members with publishing content (events info, etc) on the website blog<\/li>\n<li>Works with the other blogging assistant(s) to plan and research new and relevant blog posts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can read more about each of the positions in our Constitution, available on our website:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ischoolgroups.sjsu.edu\/alasc\/wp-students\/?page_id=1163\">https:\/\/ischoolgroups.sjsu.edu\/alasc\/wp-students\/?page_id=1163\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If interested in nominating someone (including yourself), please send an email to <a href=\"mailto:sjsualasc@gmail.com\">sjsualasc@gmail.com<\/a> with a brief bio and why the nominated person would make a good fit for that position, <b>by Friday April 10, 2020.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Requirements<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Nominees must be currently enrolled students (taking at least 3 credits)\u00a0 at San Jose State University School of Information and be able to commit to at least 1 to 2 hours a week to the chapter, depending on your position and if you decide to help out with any of our committees or events.<\/p>\n<p>All elected executive board members must be members of the American Library Association. All positions are expected to attend the monthly meetings of the executive board at a time that will be set by the next board.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations are now OPEN until <b>Friday April 10, 2020<\/b>. Afterward, voting by the student body will open from <b>Sunday April 12 to Friday April 17 <\/b>and will take place on Canvas (more information to follow on how to vote).
