The ALA Office for Intellectual Freedom tracked<\/span>\u00a0<\/b>347 challenges<\/span>\u00a0<\/b>to library, school and university materials and services in 2018. Of the<\/span>\u00a0<\/b>483 books<\/span>\u00a0<\/b>challenged or banned in 2018, the Top 11 Most Challenged Books are:<\/span><\/p>\n

    How can you participate and raise awareness about banned books?<\/p>\n

    • Visit your local library and see if you can find all the books on the banned book list provided.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • When you find the book, take a picture of the book jacket and post it on our Facebook page.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Include your name and what library the book was at.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Please feel free to include in your postings why you think the book was challenged and any thoughts on intellectual freedom.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • The winner will be announced September 30.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
