FTRF to award two scholarships for “Intellectual Freedom and Censorship” LIS course<\/b><\/p>\n

The Freedom to Read Foundation (FTRF) will provide two scholarships to interested Library & Information Science (LIS) students for \u201cIntellectual Freedom and Censorship,\u201d a\u00a0two-credit online course<\/a>\u00a0taking place\u00a0August 26\u2013October 10, 2014.\u00a0 The course is provided by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign\u2019s\u00a0Graduate School of Library and Information Science<\/a>\u00a0(GSLIS) in conjunction with FTRF\u2019s\u00a0Judith F. Krug Fund Intellectual Freedom Education Project<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The scholarships are open to anyone currently enroled in an LIS program other than the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign GSLIS. Interested students are asked to fill out a short application, including a 200-word essay describing their interest in taking the course. \u00a0Course lectures will be synchronous, and students must be available on Tuesdays from\u00a04:00\u20136:00 p.m.\u00a0Central Time. \u00a0For technical requirements associated with the course, please visit\u00a0http:\/\/groups.lis.illinois.edu\/itdweb\/bbcollaborate\/started.php<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Students enrolled in programs affiliated with the\u00a0WISE consortium<\/a>\u00a0will be provided course credit automatically upon completion of the course. \u00a0Others will need to coordinate course credit with their home institution.<\/p>\n
