Robert Boissy, Account Development Manager and Academic\/Government Marketing & Account Development at Springer Science+Business Media, will present on the current state of scholarly publishing and licensing. Also joining him is recent SLIS graduate Katy Divittorio who will present on the new professional\u2019s experience working with NASIG, publishing, and serials. Both will be available during the Q&A session to answer your questions.<\/p>\n

\n\u2022 Electronic serials are now the norm for scholarly publishing in the academic sector, eBooks coming along same path.
\n\u2022 Open Access is important, and gaining some ground.
\n\u2022 Since electronic access is quantifiable, everything is counted these days.
\n\u2022 The age of passively granting access to content is over. Roles in marketing the library are on the rise.
\n\u2022 The roles of publishers, intermediaries, agents, and librarians are all in flux and being questioned, which is healthy.<\/p>\n

About NASIG<\/strong>
\nNASIG started in 1985 with a serials focus because the majority of library materials budgets were in serials. Since then, NASIG has developed into an electronic resources conference, with licensing, eBooks, access and discovery all included. They have built relationships with Electronic Resources in Libraries Conference, and UKSG and offer professional development for Electronic Resources Librarians.<\/p>\n
