Q&A with ALA Executive Director Tracie D. Hall

To celebrate the formation of the new SJSU Library Advocacy Student Group at the iSchool, we hosted a Q&A with the American Library Association’s Executive Director Tracie D. Hall in May 2022. The topic of the informal conversation was related to the goals of the new student group — to consider how LIS professionals can learn skills to demonstrate and surface the value of libraries for communities and diverse populations, to understand how to work with organization systems to fight for sustainable funding, and to collaborate to communicate the importance of libraries to citizens, educators, community leaders, legislators, and elected officials.
