Chair
- Preside at and prepare the agenda for all meetings of the organization
- Be the official spokesperson of the organization
- Update and renew the organization’s recognition status with SJSU
- Be the primary point of contact with the Chairs of other organizations
Vice Chair
- Preside at organization meetings in the absence of the Chair
- Attend and contribute to monthly officer meetings
Treasurer
- Maintain an Associated Students bank account in the organization’s name
- Maintain all necessary accounting records and prepare monthly financial reports for the membership
- Attend and contribute to monthly officer meetings
Secretary
- Take minutes at all meetings of the organization
- Keep all minutes on file and submit required copies to all organization members
- Be responsible for all organization correspondence and keep copies thereof on file
- Attend and contribute to monthly officer meetings
Website Coordinator
- Maintain student group website on WordPress in compliance with iSchool IT policies
- Publish up-to-date web contents including events, announcements, and organization changes
- Attend and contribute to monthly officer meetings
Membership Coordinator
- Maintain student group membership list and keep contact information up to date
- Create and send out a newsletter once per semester to keep membership informed of upcoming events, recap previous events, highlight membership achievements, highlight blogs on AANHPI website, and advertise relevant opportunities for members (i.e. job postings, internships, scholarships, grants, conferences, etc.)
- Attend and contribute to monthly officer meetings
Events Coordinator
- Coordinate membership events and activities
- Provide support for events, utilizing tools in Zoom and other virtual event platforms
- Create and send out announcements to keep membership informed of upcoming events and recap previous events
- Maintain the events calendar
- Attend and contribute to monthly officer meetings
Social Media Coordinator
- Create content and engage with student members on social media platforms
- Maintain student group social media accounts (Instagram and LinkedIn group)
- Attend and contribute to monthly officer meetings
Social Media Assistants
- Assists Social Media Coordinator
- Creates content and social media graphics to promote events on Instagram and LinkedIn group
- May be in charge of a specific social media series
Officers Experience
The AANHPI iSchool student group is run by an executive committee of officers who meet monthly to plan for events and activities for the organization. Officers work together as a team and build leadership experience that may satisfy many competency requirements of their iSchool degree programs, such as follows:
C. Articulate the importance of designing programs and services supportive of diversity, inclusion, and equity for clientele and employees
D. Apply the fundamental principles of planning, management, marketing, and advocacy;
E. Design, query, and evaluate information retrieval systems
H. Demonstrate proficiency in identifying, using, and evaluating current and emerging information and communication technologies
M. Demonstrate professional leadership and communication skills
O. (For students entering from Spring 2015 onwards) Understand global perspectives on effective information practices that are supportive of cultural, economic, educational, or social well-being.
B. Explain the social, cultural, and economic dimensions of data, records, and information use
D. Apply basic concepts and principles to identify, evaluate, select, organize, maintain, and provide access to physical and digital information assets
J. Describe global perspectives on effective information practices that are supportive of cultural, economic or social well-being.
A. Apply technology informatics skills to solve specific industry data and information management problems, with a focus on usability and designing for users
D. Identify user needs, ideate informatics products and services, prototype new concepts, and evaluate a prototype’s usability
E. Work collaboratively in teams and use project management practices effectively to solve user-centric information and data problems
