On November 17th, the American Library Association Student Chapter of SJSU and the Special Libraries Association Student Chapter of SJSU collaborated to host a virtual tour featuring special libraries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On October 7th, two archivists and a librarian at Yale\u2019s Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library met to talk about their time working with one of the largest collections of rare works. This roundtable event offered insight into how collections are curated, archived, and made accessible for the scholars of today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On October 3rd, the El Monte nonprofit La Historia Historical Society Museum gave a special presentation. La Historia’s mission is to preserve Mexican American history through community engagement and collaboration. View the recording here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During this presentation from the Obama Presidential Library on August 18th, Speaker Jill Zawacki described the work required to create the nation\u2019s first all-digital Presidential Library. Zawacki also described challenges the team has faced, including a major change in location. <\/p>\n\n\n\n On April 2nd Matthew Housch, Curator of Collections and Archives at the Statue of Liberty National Monument, discussed the work of preserving the historical treasures of Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. Housch described challenges involved in maintaining these collections and how they help tell the story of immigration, freedom, and American identity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n On February 27th, SLASC hosted a session with a panel of SLA professionals who described essential insights to help students succeed in their careers. Each speaker highlighted a key aspect of working in special libraries.
