About Dr. Judy Weedman<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. Judy Weedman is a current faculty member at SLIS and member of ASIS&T.\u00a0\u00a0Dr. Weedman has taught many courses at SLIS, including LIBR 202 Information Retrieval, LIBR 244 Online Searching, LIBR 247 Vocabulary Design, and LIBR 287 Seminar in Information Science.\u00a0 Within the field of information science, her area of specialization is knowledge production.\u00a0 Dr. Weedman’s work has been published in journals of several disciplines, and she regularly presents at conferences such as those of the American Society for Information Science and Technology and the Joint Conference on Digital Libraries.\u00a0 Her current research projects focus on design as professional practice.<\/p>\n

About the Topic<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. Weedman’s talk will cover the various information environments in which she has worked over the course of her career, starting with her work in a public library before library school, and including school libraries, various special libraries, the information industry, and then eventually moving into her Ph.D. work and experience as a faculty member.\u00a0 Intermixed with these will be her insights and perspectives on thesaurus design, journal indexing, and vocabulary design.<\/p>\n
