The Nominating &\u00a0Elections\u00a0Committee invites nominations from SJSU ASIS&T Student Chapter members for Executive Committee positions for the 2013-2014 administrative year, which runs from\u00a0June 1, 2013 to May 31, 2014. To nominate yourself, you will need to submit a short bio, statement of purpose, and a picture for our\u00a0election\u00a0by\u00a0October 20th<\/strong>.\u00a0 See below for complete details.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Chair
\nDuties\/Responsibilities:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Preside over all meetings of the Executive Committee.<\/li>\n
  • Appoint the Chairs of all committees, subject to the provisions of these Bylaws and the consent of the Executive Committee.<\/li>\n
  • Submit a request for the annual Student Chapter fund appropriation to ASIS&T Headquarters by the date specified.<\/li>\n
  • Submit an Annual Report of the Student Chapter to ASIS&T Headquarters by the date specified for self-nomination of the annual Student Chapter of the Year Award or by the close of the ASIS&T fiscal year.<\/li>\n
  • Act and function as the official representative to other student organizations, faculty, campus administration, and the media, unless the Chair otherwise designates these responsibilities to another officer.<\/li>\n
  • Run day-to-day affairs of the Student Chapter.<\/li>\n
  • Implement a plan of action to achieve Student Chapter goals.<\/li>\n
  • Make necessary online preparations for organizational meetings.<\/li>\n
  • Submit all Executive Committee meetings and programs for posting to the SLIS Master Events Calendar.<\/li>\n
  • Post agendas at least 24 hours in advance of Executive Committee meetings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

    Treasurer
    \nDuties\/Responsibilities:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Maintain a complete and accurate financial statement.<\/li>\n
    • Maintain complete and accurate records of all receipts, expenditures, donations, and raised funds.<\/li>\n
    • Be accountable to the Executive Committee regarding the authorization of all expenditures.<\/li>\n
    • Provide a current financial statement to the Executive Committee upon request.<\/li>\n
    • Provide the Chair with an Annual Financial Statement to be submitted to ASIS&T Headquarters.<\/li>\n
    • Direct Student Chapter expenditures of funds.<\/li>\n
    • Direct Student Chapter fundraising activities.<\/li>\n
    • Formulate the content on the Student Chapter\u2019s website regarding donation procedures.<\/li>\n
    • Communicate regularly with the ASIS&T Director of Finance & Administration regarding the status of the Student Chapter\u2019s financial account.<\/li>\n
    • Perform such duties as the Executive Committee or the Chair may assign as expected of a Treasurer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

      Newsletter Editor<\/strong><\/div>\n
      Duties\/Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/div>\n
      \n
        \n
      • Carry out the functions of designing, creating, assembling, editing, and producing a Student Chapter newsletter twice per semester.<\/li>\n
      • Solicit newsletter submissions from the Executive Committee and Student Chapter membership relating to Student Chapter news as well as general topical pieces about information science and technology.<\/li>\n
      • Perform such duties as the Executive Committee or Chair may assign as expected of a Newsletter Editor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n
        \u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
        Nomination requirements:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Candidates for office must be SJSU ASIS&T Student Chapter members and must be clear of intent of enrollment through May 2014. \u00a0Nothing prevents any member from being\u00a0elected\u00a0to more than one office of the Executive Committee, except that the Assembly Representative and the Alternate Assembly Representative must be different individuals.<\/div>\n

        Nomination process:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Candidates may nominate themselves for\u00a0election. \u00a0Please send your nomination, including a short bio, statement of purpose, and portrait photograph to Mariea Whittington, at\u00a0marieawhit@gmail.com\u00a0<\/strong>by \u00a0 \u00a0October 20th<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0at 11:59 pm PT.<\/p>\n

        Voting process:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Elections\u00a0will be held\u00a0October 21 – 27th, 2013<\/strong>. \u00a0Officers will be\u00a0elected\u00a0by a majority of the SJSU ASIS&T Student Chapter members, who will vote online via our D2L page.
