SJSU ASIS&T Student Chapter: Usability Scavenger Hunt Results!<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Congratulations<\/strong> to the two SJSU SLIS teams<\/strong>, coordinated by the SJSU ASIS&T Student Chapter and Dr. Jeremy Kemp, who participated in the World Usability Day Scavenger Hunt!\u00a0 See the results of the scavenger hunt below:<\/p>\n

Because of the many technical difficulties in getting posts to go through to the site, we gave each team a chance to review their submissions and be sure they got credit for every find. Thank you for waiting patiently to learn the results.\u00a0 Each post was given a score from 1 – 3. Any post at all received a 1. Posts that expressed the theme of Education for Social Change was given a 2. Truly exceptional examples of design that expressed the theme were awarded a 3. Team totals were then tallied and compared. The results are:<\/em><\/p>\n

First Prize<\/strong><\/span>: TrimetUXers Score: 34
\nThey win a single professional-level Axure license, 5 Rosenfeld books, plus 5 CHIFOO memberships and colorful, insulated CHIFOO tumblers. This team is composed of staff from TriMet Creative Services in Portland, OR, USA.<\/p>\n

Second Prize<\/strong><\/span>: SLIS1 Score: 33<\/span><\/strong>
\nThis team was a very close second, and is composed of online San Jose State University usability students from across the USA . We will provide each player an Axure student license, plus a CHIFOO membership and colorful, insulated CHIFOO tumbler.<\/p>\n

Third Prize<\/strong><\/span>: Teamhiser Score: 27
\nPlaying in Sydney, Australia, TeamHiser provided some stellar images. This team will receive a single license of Balsamiq Mockups and an O\u2019Reilly ebook for each player.<\/p>\n

Fourth Prize<\/span><\/strong>: SLIS2 Score: 16<\/strong><\/span>
\nThis hard working team is also composed of online San Jose State University usability students from all over the USA. They will be receiving 5 O\u2019Reilly ebooks.<\/p>\n

Fifth Prize<\/span><\/strong>: Geoloqi Score: 14
\nThis team is based in Portland, OR, played from Sweden and shared finds from all over Europe. They will get the remaining 3 Rosenfeld books.<\/p>\n

The top two posts that we felt exemplified the concept of Education for Social Change were:<\/h3>\n

The Good Guide mobile app<\/strong> submitted by TriMetUXers<\/strong>. Users can scan the barcode of any product at the grocery store and the GoodGuide mobile app will give ratings on how safe, healthy, green and ethical the product is.<\/p>\n

The Smartphone Blood Pressure Cuff app<\/strong> submitted by TeamHiser<\/strong>. A brilliant piece of design right down to the packaging. It encourages users to take an active role in monitoring their own health in conjunction with their doctor.<\/p>\n

Thanks to everyone for providing so many educational and interesting submissions! It was great to be getting content from all over the globe and across the US.<\/p>\n
